We are often asked: "What is the difference between your Immortelle oil and the essential oil?" They come from the same flower, harvested in the same field, but they are not made the same way and are not used the same way at all.
The essential oil: distillation
The flowers are steam-distilled in our still, which stands outdoors against a granite wall. The steam passes through the flowers and carries away their aromatic compounds, then condenses in a copper coil. In the essencier, the essential oil separates naturally from the water: it floats on top, and the floral water stays below.

For the full tour, read Inside our still. The result is a pure, highly concentrated oil, sold in small 3, 5 or 15 ml bottles. It is never applied neat to the skin: it is always diluted in a vegetable oil.
Immortelle oil: maceration
For Immortelle oil, we immerse the flowers in grapeseed oil, in large jars, and leave them in the sun for several months. Little by little, the flowers give their golden colour and their compounds to the oil. We then cold-press the flowers to collect all the oil, and enrich it with our organic Immortelle essential oil.

The result is a gentle, ready-to-use oil that you massage directly onto the skin. Every step is described in Sun maceration.

Frequently asked questions
Can the essential oil be applied neat to the skin?
No. Always dilute 1 to 2 drops in a teaspoon of vegetable oil, and do a skin test in the crook of the elbow 48 hours before first use.
Why enrich the macerate with essential oil?
To bring together the gentleness of the macerate and the scent of the essential oil in one bottle, already measured for you.
